Making Chai Tea

Indian chai is different than the one you get to drink in western countries, Indian tea is made from tea leaves, milk and different spices. I know people love diet tea like black tea but try Indian tea for its delicious taste. My husband makes Indian chai very well, if anything that he should be asked to make then that should be the tea undoubtedly. Morning tea helps me in various ways so I thought to share his recipe with you guys. The chai recipe I have given here is for two people.

Ingredients for Making Masala Tea:

  • Ginger root (1tsp grated)
  • Star anise(1 whole)
  • Cinnamon stick (1/2 inch, if you like it)
  • Cardamom (1whole)
  • Cloves(1 whole)
  • Peppercorns(2-3 whole)
  • Water(1/2cup)
  • Black loose tea leaves (1 ¼ tbsp, I prefer Tetley and Brooke Bond Red Label)
  • Sugar(2tbsp, you can adjust according to your taste)
  • Cream milk(1 ½ cup)

Making Chai Tea:

  • Take a pan and heat water.
  • Add loose tea leaves and grated ginger to the water and let it boil for half minute.
  • Crush all the spices (star anise, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and peppercorn). Add all the crushed spices to the water, let it boil another 3-4 minutes in medium flame.
  • Now add the milk and raise to the boiling point.
  • Finally add sugar according to your taste, mix it well.
  • Strain the tea with tea filter and serve hot.

Now your Indian tea is ready. You can enjoy it with any kind of cookies and snacks. It is my way of making tea if you have any new ideas just feels free to share here. Hey, I love to drink it with tiger biscuits or Parle-G.
